Director of Global Purchasing

Description:

Our client, a dynamic and industry leading manufacturing company, is currently seeking a Director of Global Purchasing.  This position will have direct oversight of the company’s supply chain team and will be responsible for driving cost improvements through improved global sourcing and supplier development.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the leadership and professional development of a team of purchasing & supply chain professionals.
• In charge of the negotiation, implementation and administration of contracts with key suppliers.
• Identify and respond to trends in the marketplace, anticipating and applying strategies to be ahead of the cost and quality curve.
• Provide long and short term strategic purchasing plans consistent with and supportive of company goals and objectives.
• Conduct detailed qualitative cost analysis.
• Work in close coordination with product management, engineering and manufacturing groups to improve supplier quality processes, material issues and delivery concerns
• Coordinate materials and operational requirements plans with operations, marketing and technical organizations.
• Interface with quality personnel, management, customers, and vendors regarding defective or unacceptable goods or services to determine source of trouble and initiate required corrective actions.

Qualifications:

• Requires 8-10 years of supply chain experience in a global manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership and staff development skills are an absolute must
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Purchasing/Logistics, or related discipline or equivalent experience required.
• Proven track record of excellent negotiation skills with major and global agreements.
• Demonstrated success developing relationships with international suppliers as well as solid experience interpreting policies, contractual requirements and legal/regulatory aspects of the supply chain.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 25%) to supplier sites, regulatory agencies, and company facilities.
• Must have exceptional communication skills and be a self-starter
• Strong data analysis and computer skills
• C.P.M. or other related certifications is a plus.
