Our client is a financial services company created in 2003 to market prepaid Visa Debit cards to the unbanked consumer.  Currently their Debit Card targets 48 million unbanked individuals.  Benefits of the program include direct deposit of pay checks, the ability to withdraw funds at over 800,000 ATMs globally, the ability to use the card wherever Visa Debit cards are accepted, online bill payment and 24/7 English and Spanish language customer service.  Additionally, our client develops third party prepaid card and customer affinity card products. Most recently they have partnered with a state of the art financial technology provider to also offer comprehensive bill payment service to individuals and families without access to a traditional banking relationship.  Customers have access to a 24 hour on-call accountant and over 20,000 electronic billers.  They expect to see significant growth in the next two years through organic growth of existing products and the introduction of new products and services.  The company has a unique brand position with strongly positioned investors who are committed to the long term growth of this business.

The current need is for a senior management team member to serve as the Director of Product Development.  This person will report directly to the CEO and be involved with establishing the corporate operation infrastructure as well as spearheading the launch of new products and services as the company grows.   This is an extremely entrepreneurial opportunity to be a part of a leadership team that will shape the corporate strategy of a well positioned business backed by very strong, successful investors.

Position Summary:

Identify, validate and execute against growth opportunities in new products, services and channels that will enable the achievement of the company’s strategic membership, revenue and profit targets.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and pursue potential opportunities in new services, new products and new channels using consumer insights, competitive intelligence and the development of strategic relationships in the industry.
• Validate and prioritize new business opportunities through a rigorous and cross-functional stage gate process, surfacing those initiatives that will have the greatest impact on membership, revenue, and profit goals.  Provide leadership with a balanced portfolio of risk and return.
• In collaboration with marketing, technology and operations, lead the implementation of new initiatives.

Executive Management, Product and Business Development, Operations, Technology, External agencies and vendors.

Direct Reports: 

None initially, future financial analyst position.

Experience:

5-10 years experience in a financial services organization with specific experience in the credit and/or debit industry.  Must have a demonstrated track record of developing and executing against a portfolio of new business initiatives.

Education:

BA in business or other related field, MBA preferred.
