Production Manager - Second Shift

$50,000 - $70,000 (plus bonus)

Description:

Our client, a dynamic industrial metals processing company in the Cincinnati area, is experiencing tremendous growth and has an immediate need for a detailed-oriented Production Manager to lead their Second Shift production team.  This position will report to the VP or Operations and be responsible for coordinating activities of the production department(s) in processing materials and manufacturing products while improving production and ensuring established goals and metrics are met.  This will include managing personnel directly or through subordinate supervisors.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership for production department of up to 25 subordinates, including 2 department leads.  Essential department functions include steel fabrication and processing, including burning cutting, drilling, etc.

• Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products on a daily basis to ensure customer delivery schedules are met.  Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.

• Monitor production and operations reports daily and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays

• Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.

• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Exhibit a style of leadership that gains cooperation of production workers.  Communicate production goals and metrics to hourly associates, drive ownership of the results to the floor level.

• Develop operational standards used in production and monitor compliance.

• Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Production Superintendent for action.

Qualifications:

The production supervisor must be detail oriented and analytical toward improving production results.  He or she should be an effective communicator with excellent leadership skill, who manages in a collaborative manner.

• Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 5 years of managerial experience in a production environment (or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree).

• Ability to write routine reports and speak effectively to groups of customers or employees of organization.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Proven experience managing a group of production associates to improved performance measured in output, cycle times and quality.

• Able to work in an industrial environment.  This requires the ability to lift, stand, and walk on a continuous basis in an industrial plant setting.
